Stop Open pit Coal Mining

While history of the world says different I deter to respond to Dulal Miah's innocent supposition. He was injured when he got shot by the police and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) when blockade organized by Fulbari Rescue committee and National Oil and Gas Rescue committee on 26 August 2006.

None paid heed to the protest of the National Oil and Gas Rescue committee when the Bangladesh Government signed an agreement with Asia Energy (British company), against the interests of the country. The resident of Fulbari realized that there would be an open pit mine acquiring their land and ancestral home with no specific guideline for their resettlement. After a failed effort to negotiate with the administration they announced the blockade.

The demonstration gained momentum after six people were killed, and more than fifty injured, when the police and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) opened fired on a peaceful demonstration. The government imposed rule 144(curfew), but people from all walks of life defied the rule chanting, "We will impart with our lives but not our ancestral home" and assembled in huge numbers at Fulbari. To stabilize the situation the government hastily scraped the deal.
